CHATTANOOGA, TN, August 4, 2020 — Galen Medical Group, announced that Dr. Cindy Harris, a Specialist in Pediatrics at Galen East Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, July 31. Dr. Harris treats patients at the Galen facility located at 1651 Gunbarrel Road, Suite 302. Galen has reached out to all patients and family members possibly exposed with Dr. Harris during the potential transmission period, the week of July 27 – 30, and they are being offered free COVID-19 testing services. Additional contact tracing and testing protocols have also been followed and the practice has been in contact with the Hamilton County Health Department.
The Galen East Internal Medicine and Pediatrics facility has been cleaned and sanitized daily as part of our routine maintenance and all other physicians at the location are seeing patients. We are grateful for the continued dedication shown by our healthcare providers as they serve on the front line to bring quality medical care to our community. We regret that one of our team members has become infected and potentially exposed others to this disease. We continue to stay informed with the latest information available on COVID-19 and place into practice those protocols that appear to be most effective in preventing the spread of this virus.
